Century City embraces all aspects of 21st century living. This 250ha city within a city is a self-contained suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Constructed as a mixed use development, it boasts all of the components of modern living in close proximity to each other and linked by wonderful waterways, wetlands, and canals.
Century City includes a wealth of residential, retail, entertainment, and office space options in a fully integrated and aesthetically pleasing modern urban environment. Surrounded by a superb road network and ideally located along the N1 highway roughly 10km northeast of central Cape Town, commuters enjoy easy access in and out of this marvellous metropolitan wonderland.
The beautiful homes in Century City, all situated within a secure and safe environment, range from luxury free-standing houses on the water to stylish high-rise apartments and even a superb retirement village. This spectacular suburb also boasts the infinitely impressive Canal Walk shopping mall – one of the biggest shopping and entertainment complexes in the Southern Hemisphere – and the thrilling Ratanga Junction Theme Park – South Africa's first full-scale theme park.
The 141 000m² Canal Walk shopping mall is home to over 400 shops, 20 movie theatres, numerous restaurants and bars, and an exciting entertainment section, while Ratanga Junction offers over 30 exciting (and sometimes terrifying) attractions, including the daring Cobra, Slingshot, and Tarantula rides, numerous restaurants and bars, live entertainment, snake and bird shows (seasonal), theatres, and cinemas.
Built on a natural wetland area that is home to stunning indigenous flora and fascinating bird life, the Century City developers were required to adhere to strict conservation guidelines. We're happy to say that they did this with aplomb. Intaka Island, an award winning and breathtakingly beautiful 16ha wetland conservation area within Century City, consists of 8ha of ecologically susceptible seasonal pans (among the last remaining of their kind) and 8ha of reconstructed wetlands. The wetlands naturally clean the waters of the navigable canals that link the different elements of the high-density Century City development and help to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
