This exciting programme is now in its 17th year. Being an achiever in this programme presents you with an immediate marketing advantage. Awards are good for business AND are your most cost effective market research. Winners grow their businesses hugely. It is also an excellent tool for motivating staff.

The methodology is as follows: enter the programme now, and between now and January 2011 you give your guests the questionnaires we supply asking for feedback. Once completed, these questionnaires are returned to us via our Freepost address and are scored by an independent market research company. Note that this year we also offer establishments using recognised online feedback systems the opportunity to submit electronic feedback. There is a discount on the entry fee for establishments who make use of either eGuestServe or Rate-it, the two systems which we currently recognise.
Please note that we will only accept questionnaires from your guests for stays up to and including the 15th of January 2011. The last questionnaires have to reach us NO LATER than 31 January 2011, this is absolutely imperative for us to have final results in time for Indaba.
Preliminary scores are checked in October of each year and potential semi finalists are identified. Semi finalists are announced in March, finalists in April and the winners are applauded at the annual AA Travel Guides American Express Accommodation Awards evening, a prestigious banquet held during Indaba in May.
South Africa's Best
Once you are a semi finalist or better in the AA Travel Guides American Express Accommodation Awards Programme you have the opportunity to participate in South Africa 's Best. This is a compact high circulation publication with an excellent track record for getting response.

Members of the Hall of fame and winners are featured at the front of the guide.
If you are an achiever in the awards programme your status is listed in the results section at the front of South Africa's Best. There is no obligation to advertise in the main body. However past achievers report an excellent result from full participation in this publication. Any establishment which has been a winner for 3 years in a row moves to the Hall of Fame for 2 years and does not enter the programme during this time. Thereafter the establishment may enter again and may choose whether to remain in the Hall of Fame based on guest feedback or to enter a general category again.
Gold Achievers are selected based on research done with the inbound travel trade and the major operators sending tourists to South Africa from the UK and Germany. A maximum of 30 gold achievers are selected in any one year. The contenders are the well known names which market themselves mainly to the international travel trade and overseas guests.
