ACCOMMODATION IN LOUIS TRICHARDT
This small town on the N1 is smack in the middle of a farming area producing delicious sub-tropical crops like mangos, nuts, litchis and avocados. The name of the town was changed to Makhado, but some people complained saying he was not someone they felt should be honoured by having a town named after him, so it was changed back to Louis Trichardt. It’s probably less offensive because many people can’t remember who he was, anyway. If a name is used long enough it becomes a town instead of a person. The nearby Ben Lavin Nature Reserve is a great place for a short break. Who was Ben Lavin?
