ACCOMMODATION IN BLOEMFONTEIN
The provincial capital of the Free State is also the judicial capital of South Africa and was the capital of the Boer republic of the Orange Free State. It’s a pretty town with lots of open space and, not surprising, considering the name, flowers. There are thousands of rose bushes lining the streets and there is a small nature reserve right in the middle of the town. The city is situated just off the N1 so most people travelling this arterial route through the country don’t spend much time here, just stopping off at one of the fuel complexes to rest a while and refuel both vehicles and drivers.
