ACCOMMODATION IN GRAHAMSTOWN
This pleasant university town is a very cerebral destination. As well as the Rhodes campus and some prestigious schools, it has a number of interesting attractions that are likely to appeal to the thinking tourist. The Museum of African Music and the Museum of English Literature are quite specialised. But the Aquatic Biodiversity Institute, while no less academic, is of broader interest with many displays of a fishy nature, including a coelacanth. The only camera obscura in the southern hemisphere is at the Observatory Museum that celebrates a range of Victorian scientific achievements. And, of course, Grahamstown is the venue of the annual National Festival of the Arts in July.
