ACCOMMODATION IN CRADOCK
Situated on the banks of the Fish River in the Great Karoo, Cradock is in the midst of a large farming area with wool being one of the most important products. The town has some beautiful restored old buildings, including a whole street of cottages that are rented out as tourist accommodation. Cradock is the birthplace of the iconic wire windmills that are now seen all over South Africa, and this is still the best place to buy one. You can explore Lingelihle, the home of the Cradock Four, namely Mathew Goniwe, Sparrow Mkhonto, Fort Calata and Sicelo Mhlauli, who were abducted and killed in 1985 for their anti-apartheid activities.
