Situated 10km south of Nieuwoudtville between Van Rhynsdorp and Calvinia. Nieuwoudtville is one of the most diverse botanical areas in the Northern Cape. Indigenous vegetation includes the Western Cape Renosterveld, the vegetation of southern Namaqualand, Bushmanland and the Western Karoo. The reserve provides scenic views from the escarpment over the Knersvlakte, as well as interesting rock formations and archaeological remains. Various mammal and bird species. A variety of day- and 4 to 7-day (52km) hiking trails are available with a hiking hut at the trail's start and tent camps for 15 people, but telephonic bookings essential. Except for camping on the hiking trails, no other accommodation available on the reserve. Picnic facilities and swimming in the Oorlogskloof River for day visitors.
