Game Lodge
Oddballs' is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp is only accessible by light aircraft . Accommodation is in 2mx2m man dome tents set on shaded, elevated wooden decks. Each tent is equipped with mattresses, bedding and a light Each tent boasts a beautiful rustic bathroom, consisting of basin, loo and shower. The bar and lounge area has comfortable seating, and a raised viewing deck overlooks the sweep of the delta – the perfect place to watch the sun set over the palms, and view wildlife at the water's edge. Hammocks are everywhere, and enable you to relax during the heat of the day whilst 'cramming up' on the wildlife and bird population from Oddball's extensive library.
Activities are conducted by your own born and bred professional man of the swamp. He has a mokoro (dug-out canoe) in which he will take you to nearby islands, where you will walk to view game and the spectacular landscape that is the Okavango. It might also be possible to visit his village, meet the elders and perhaps his family. During your stay at Oddball's, you will have the opportunity to go out on Mokoro Trail. The first and last nights will be spent at Oddballs , and for the middle nights you take your guide and mokoro into the Okavango to camp out wherever you find yourselves - a wilderness experience par excellence.
'Molly's', the provisions store at Oddball's will provide you with camping equipment, food and all the 'little necessities' of bush camping! Your Guide will find a suitable campsite on the banks of the river and build the fire for you. Whilst on Mokoro Trail your food will be provided but you will be responsible for its preparation. The combination of Oddballs and a Mokoro Trail provides the best overall 'Okavango Experience' for those who don't mind roughing-it a little. More than a place to stay, more than a base from which to explore the Delta, Oddball's is Africa's ultimate state of mind.
The place is easily reached by light aircraft from Maun, our nearest town, situated at the base of the Delta. The flight is a short 20 minute hop over the dry outskirts of Maun and then into the lush green landscape of islands, channels and floodplains where our camp is situated. We cannot guarantee the times of your flights in and out of camp, but we will do our best to accommodate your arrangements. Our air charter company must enforce a strict luggage limit of 12.5kg per person - you should not need more than this, as all camping equipment is provided and Oddball's offers a daily lundry service. Any excess luggage can be stored at our office in Maun.
