Geography The town of Clanwilliam lies at the point where the Olifants and Jan Dissel Rivers meet at the foot of the Cederberg. The town is located about 220km from Cape Town, just off the N7.History One of the ten oldest towns in South Africa, Clanwilliam has a rich history. Originally named Jan Disselsvlei after the botanist, the name was eventually changed to Clanwilliam by Governor Sir John Cradock after his father-in-law the Earl of Clanwilliam.Arts and Culture Fascinating San rock art can be viewed at the Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, including an interesting site that depicts a zigzag line with animal and human figures walking on it.
