Recommended B&B/Guest House Style
Abbotsford House is a charming English - style guest house set in just under an acre of leafy, shaded gardens, in the secluded suburb of Abbotsford in the heart of the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.
The Rose Room is a delightful, sunny, spacious room overlooking the rose garden, with a king size bed and bathroom ensuite. Fully equipped with TV, mini bar fridge, built in safe and broadband connection. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower.
The Fig Room - overlooking a prolific fig tree which bears magnificent fruit . The bathroom features a large round bath , separate shower and there is a separate toilet. Fully equipped with internet, minibar and safe.
The lavender room is our newest room with a comfy queen size bed and ensuite bathroom with shower only.
Our guest house is suitable for mobility impaired travellers in that there are no steps, the surfaces are paved. However our toilets do not allow for a wheel chair to be pulled up next to the seat. Also we do not have roll in showers. However the staff at Abbotsford House will be delighted to assist any mobility impaired traveller..

From Joburg International Airport: ie O R Tambo International Airport
From JHI take the signs to Jhb. At the Gilooly's interchange take N3 NORTH to Pretoria.
Take next off ramp which is LINKSFIELD ROAD at end of the off ramp turn RIGHT and go up the hill.
At the top of the hill where there is a large traffic light and a nursery on your right. Turn RIGHT.
There is now a golf course on your left and you go down a hill through Sandringham dip. Sandringham High School is on your left hand side as you come up the hill. Cross the traffic lights. Keep going in the same street which twists and turns through Glenhazel.
After about 1.5km you go up a hill and Northview High School is on your right hand side. Keep going straight with Balfour Park shops on your right until you reach Louis Botha Ave. This is a very large intersection with a Fontana Chicken outlet and a MacDonalds on the left hand corners.
Turn LEFT into Louis Botha Ave
Turn first RIGHT (Zenex garage) into 11th Ave Highlands North.
Go down the hill and then up again. Two thirds of the way up turn RIGHT into PARK street.
Turn first LEFT into FIRST street. We are the second house on the LEFT HAND SIDE.
No 16 FIRST STREET.
FROM SANDTON
Come on the M1 South and take the Athol Oaklands Offramp.
As you come off the highway go left. You immediately come to a T junction where you turn RIGHT.
Count 4 streets on your left: the first is 3rd Street, the second is 4th Street, the 3rd is Second Street and the fourth is First Street. Turn LEFT into FIRST Street. ABBOTSFORD HOUSE is in the first block one house before the stop street, on the RIGHT HAND SIDE.
FROM Joburg City Centre
Take the M1 North and take the GLENHOVE ROAD offramp.
As you come off the highway turn RIGHT. Cross the Highway. Carry on approx 1k until you come to a big intersection with a shopping centre and a vet. Turn LEFT into Athol-Oaklands Road (also called Kruger Street). Turn second RIGHT into FIRST STREET.
ABBOTSFORD HOUSE is in the first block, one house before the stop street on the RIGHT HAND SIDE.
From Bryanston/Randburg
Directions from Bryanston: Come along the Nickel Highway and turn into Jan Smuts Ave towards Joburg, past Hyde Park shops. Left into Bompas Road. All the way to the top. Left into Oxford Road and take the curve to the right at the next traffic light into Corlett Drive. At next traffic light turn right into Rudd Road see the Protea Hotel Wanderers on the corner. At the end of the road turn left. Cross the roundabout, down the hill past the gym. At the next roundabout where you see The Peech turn right. You now have a park on the left hand side.
At the end of that road go sharp left, come to a stop street and left again. You are now headed through the bird sanctuary onto a bridge over the highway.
At the T junction with a traffic light at the end turn right into Athol Oaklands Road and second left into 1st Street. We are no 16 on the right hand side just before the stop street.
